As President Trump announced his plans on day one today, the executive director of the Climate Justice Alliance issued the following initial statement:
“The real emergency isn’t at the border—it’s in the gutting of workers’ rights and the dismantling of our communities. Our families deserve clean air, clean water, and a future that isn’t dominated by corporate greed. But the right is rolling back progress on everything from human rights to environmental protections, all to line the pockets of CEOs and the oil and gas industry. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, families are being devastated by wildfires and extreme weather, a direct result of these reckless policies. The true energy emergency is not about drilling on public lands for corporate profit—it’s about the deadly consequences of prioritizing polluters over people. The right’s war on workers and the environment will harm us all, and it’s time we hold them accountable.”
